"I replace a car"

Focus areas

As part of the national climate protection initiative, 40 electric cargo bikes were integrated into the daily delivery of courier shipments. Electric cargo bikes allow a payload of more than 220 lbs and at the same time a higher delivery speed than non-motorized cargo bikes. The DLR Institute for Transport Research investigated the potential of this innovation in urban commercial transport, particularly with regard to conducive framework conditions and application spectra. In urban sub-areas, there is an opportunity to replace up to 85% of car courier trips and thus achieve a significant reduction in emissions.
