Commercial traffic accounts for about 30 percent of total traffic in Berlin. The switch to climate-friendly vehicle and drive concepts as well as the electrification of vehicle fleets play an essential role in making transport economically, ecologically, and socially sustainable. Commercial transport includes not only the transport of goods (supply and disposal), but also the transport of people in the exercise of their profession. This includes journeys during working hours, such as those made by craft businesses, sales or care personnel, and other official journeys.

Experience shows that the use of electromobility in the city, especially for regular or planned routes, is suitable for everyday use. One battery charge is enough for one or even several days and the vehicle is charged at work or overnight at home.

Because of the low operating costs and the subsidies for purchase, electric vehicles are already paying off today.

Conversion to electromobility
The conversion of the vehicle fleet to electromobility presents companies and organizations with new challenges and has implications for operational concepts. Recording mobility needs in the vehicle fleet as well as a change in employee mobility are crucial for sustainable, efficient, and holistic mobility - see also Corporate mobility management.
It often makes sense to adapt existing mobility concepts and integrate new offerings. This includes recording mobility needs, the use of suitable vehicle models, planning an efficient charging infrastructure, and also alternative concepts to make mobility more efficient and cost-effective. Cross-company solutions for sharing electric fleets and a charging infrastructure can also be useful.
Various support programs at state and federal level make it easier for companies to switch to electromobility. For example, Berlin's "Wirtschaftsnahe Elektromobilität" (WELMO) (economy-orientated electomobility) funding program is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and also includes consulting support for the electrification of the company vehicle fleet.
Tax breaks for company e-vehicles also make them more cost-effective for employees to use than combustion engines. Special funding offers are often available for larger vehicle models and more complex applications in the commercial vehicle sector.
HOW DOES eMO PROVIDE SUPPORT?
We support your business (companies, administrations, and institutions) in the conversion of the vehicle fleet to electromobility, as well as in the scaling of existing e-fleets. In this context, we network you with suitable partners in order to find a suitable solution together. We also act as a pilot office and inform you about existing framework conditions as well as the various funding programs at federal and state level.

The use of electric commercial vehicles from 3.5t presents companies with special challenges, because the selection of larger commercial vehicles with electric drives is limited. In addition, the requirements of daily operations vary greatly. We support you in identifying suitable models and partners and accompany you during the implementation.
ELECTRIFICATION OF THE STATE OPERATIONS
The state of Berlin is focusing on a sustainable state vehicle fleet in order to save CO2 and reduce distances. We support the public sector in the conversion to electromobility and in innovative pilot projects.
SPECIAL ELECTRIC VEHICLES
The conversion of special-purpose vehicles to electric drives often requires considerable investment on the part of companies and public institutions. We support pilot projects and provide an overview of flagship projects in the state of Berlin.
