New design for the eMobility Lounge

09/17/2014 The eMobility Lounge Berlin at the NH Hotel in Friedrichstraße has reopened with new branding from the eMO. It is open to everyone as a site for electricity-powered mobility, offering pedelecs, segways, e-scooters, e-tuk-tuks and e-cars for rent, and even a boat that runs on electricity derived from solar power.

"We want to make it easier for people to see and experience ‘electromobility made in Berlin-Brandenburg’ at a central location,” said eMO director Gernot Lobenberg at the new opening of the lounge. Electromobility is a sensory experience. Everyone who has ever driven or ridden an electric-powered vehicle knows that it’s fun. "The eMobility Lounge is raising the levels of confidence and acceptance that we need in order to use electromobility on a widespread basis.”

The Berlin eMobility Lounge is a joint project with multiple partners: RWE Effizienz GmbH, NH Hotel Friedrichstraße, eTukTuk, Reederei Riedel and – last but not least – the eMO. Additional partners are invited to present their electromobility products here at this focal point in Berlin.

Till Esser, the general manager of the NH Berlin Friedrichstraße, explained why his hotel is committed to the project. "Electromobility makes sense especially in urban settings like Berlin,” he said. "The NH Hotel Group would also like to help improve the quality of life and the environment, and is therefore particularly proud to be working together with RWE, the eMO and other partners to make electromobility visible and accessible via the eMobility Lounge.”

The eMobility Lounge is one of the first of several sites in the capital region dedicated to enabling people to experience electromobility. The Südkreuz intelligent mobility station will open soon, and electromobility can also be experienced at the visitors’ center for the SMART Capital Region project at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg. Additional plans also include a showroom at Potsdamer Platz.
