On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), research was conducted into model solutions for a 100% renewable, intelligent energy system of the future.

  • Second-life applications of used vehicle batteries in electric fleet operation

 

In this project, BVG investigated systems for grid-compatible and system-serving charging of electric vehicle fleets as a flexibility option in a smart energy system. The basis was the existing charging management system for the economic networking of charging infrastructure, vehicles, and scheduling system. A second-life storage system was added to the system

  • Controlled charging in a battery-powered commercial vehicle fleet

Here, BSR and BWB investigated the technical integration of the charging infrastructure of battery-powered commercial vehicles into the overall system. This included the effects on vehicle availability, as well as potentials and obstacles for the operational process. In addition, regulatory incentives for battery capacity provided were analyzed to develop a roadmap that is transferable and scalable to fleet operators.
