Experts from the SCHNELL-LADEN BERLIN project presented a network of rapid charging stations with simple billing procedures today in Berlin-Schönweide. The project’s five stations in Berlin and Brandenburg mark the launch of a network of direct-current charging stations that conform to the Europe-wide standard known as the Combined Charging System.

The eMobility Lounge Berlin at the NH Hotel in Friedrichstraße has reopened with new branding from the eMO. It is open to everyone as a site for electricity-powered mobility, offering pedelecs, segways, e-scooters, e-tuk-tuks and e-cars for rent, and even a boat that runs on electricity derived from solar power.
The world’s largest electric truck has taken its first trip from Berlin’s container terminal at the Westhafen inland port. Operated by BEHALA Westhafen, it is the first of its type on the city’s streets.
The Brose company has launched series production of pedelec drive systems in Berlin. A family-owned enterprise, it is a partner of the Berlin Agency for Electromobility and is also helping to raise Berlin’s profile as a model city for electromobility.
More than 600 participants were present and 20 presentations were held at the second Hauptstadtkonferenz Elektromobilität in the Town Hall Berlin on March 26, 2014. As the organizer, the Berlin Agency for Electromobility eMO sees Berlin-Brandenburg well on the way to becoming an international model for electromobility by 2020. The "Action Program Electromobility 2020”, which is a further development of the capital region’s strategy, has been presented to the public at the conference.
For studying possible electromobility applications in cities, the "Smart e-User" research project directed by the logistics department at the Technische Universität Berlin was honored with the 2014 German High Tech Champions Award (GHTC) in the category "Urban Distribution". The project’s comprehensive and integrative approach was a major factor in the jury’s decision. The award is given by the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and comes with prize money of 10,000 euros.
The specialists at Berlin Partner for Business and Technology continued to successfully support companies investing in the capital in 2013. Berlin Partner guided a total of 258 projects which will be creating 5,506 new jobs with an investment volume of 369 million euros over the next three years. This is 200 more jobs created than in the preceding year, and 90 million more euros of investment. These positive figures were presented today at a press conference by Economics Senator Cornelia Yzer and Berlin Partner Managing Director Melanie Bähr.
The "LERNWELT ELEKTROMOBILITÄT Berlin” project is bringing partners from business and science together for two years to find new strategies and solutions for attracting and qualifying a new generation of skilled workers in the field of electromobility . It was launched on 7 January 2014 with a joint event by the project partners in conjunction with the Berlin Agency for Electromobility (eMO).
Ubitricity and the Bundesverband Solare Mobilität (BSM) are carrying out a joint pilot project to test a charging infrastructure for electric vehicles based on portable power meters.
The Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR), the city’s waste disposal company, presented a new electric truck for bulk waste disposal on 11 September 2013. It will be used in test operations over the next few months. The truck has a fully electric trash compactor as well as a hybrid drive. It is part of the "Electric waste disposal systems” project associated with the "Berlin-Brandenburg International Showcase for Electromobility”.
Cornelia Yzer, Senator for Economics, Technology & Research, today welcomed the FIA Formula E Championship to Berlin as one of 10 global cities – and only the third in Europe – to host the new fully-electric racing series, beginning in 2014.
